MANILA, Philippines–The number of Filipinos abroad who registered for the first time under the overseas absentee voting jumped to a total of 193,388 as of August 24, from 186,106 registrants last week, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported Monday.
But the number only represents 19 percent of the one million new registrants targeted by the DFA.
The deadline for registration is on August 31.
According to the DFA, the following Foreign Service Posts recorded the highest number of registrants:
- Hong Kong (19,691)
- Los Angeles (11,059)
- Dubai (11,031)
- Singapore (9,195)
- Riyadh (5,627)
- New York (5,97)
- London (5,442)
- Toronto (4,632)
- Tokyo (4,748)
- MECO Taipei (4,116)
Another 19,062 new voters registered at the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, 13,916 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, 6,066 at the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and 5,625 at the Commission on Filipino Overseas.
