Au Pair and Host Family Handbook

A Handbook for Au pairs and Host Families in Denmark

A project of Babaylan-Denmark

First Edition (version 1.4) Updated 1 May 2013

This Handbook for Au pairs and Host Families in Denmark was prepared by members of Babaylan-Denmark (The Philippine Women’s Network) on volunteer basis.  It is provided free of charge via download from our website.  It is prepared in a Question-and-Answer format and is based on the most common questions we have received over many years of working with Filipino au pairs, Danish host families, and government authorities in two countries, Denmark and the Philippines.

We wrote this Handbook for Filipinos who are considering becoming au pairs in Denmark, and for host families who want to try having au pairs from the Philippines in their homes.  We also wrote it for current au pairs and hosts who are not able to attend our seminars and other activities.

The Handbook discusses rules and regulations, practical advice, the importance of communication, case studies, and contact information.
